The historic railway station building in Duchcov, is abandoned from the sixties of the twentieth century. The track was canceled, because only a few hundred meters away starting surface coal mine.
The former communist government (CPC) destroyed due to coal mining several surrounding villages. Consideration was also to demolish the whole town Duchcov, although there are several historical monuments..:
Duchcov Castle, [link] where he lived G. Casanova,
Church [link] ,
chapel [link] ,
Plague column [link] in the square and more.
None of this however, could not avert the destruction of cities and coal mining.
The city eventually rescued architecturally completely worthless viaduct [link] , but which had great significance for the CPC.If you're wondering why, search at wikipedia "Duchcovská stávka" (but only in CZ.)
Because I'm not an encyclopedia.
